The Timmins Local Immigration Partnership (TLIP) was formally established in March of 2009 through funding from Citizenship and Immigration Canada. TLIP works to assist our region in building capacity to achieve success in immigration related opportunities and provide a collaborative framework for the development and implementation of effective programs for the successful integration of newcomers choosing to live in Timmins.
Guided by the Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator and a fifteen-member advisory council, TLIP's primary focus is to develop strong partnerships to drive efforts in establishing a newcomer settlement program for the City of Timmins.
For over a year, TLIP has been engaging newcomers to understand their specific needs, issues, and challenges while communicating the socio-economic benefits of immigration to the community. Through these efforts, TLIP has developed a comprehensive strategy which outlines steps to improve the accessibility and synchronization of newcomer settlement and integration services.
