Your Rights as an Employee
Canada has standards and guidelines to protect workers' rights. Employees have the right to be treated with respect by both their employer and other workers. Employee health and safety is also a top priority on all job sites.
Ontario's Human Rights Code, the first in Canada, was enacted in 1962. The Code protects people in Ontario against discrimination in employment, accommodation, goods, services and facilities, and membership in vocational associations and trade unions.
Ontario's Workplace Safety and Insurance Board promotes workplace health and safety, and provides a workers' compensation system for the workers and employers of Ontario.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour sets workplace standards to ensure a safe, fair and harmonious work environment for all Ontario residents.
