Staying in touch with Family and Friends

Moving to Timmins doesn't mean that you can't keep in contact with family and friends in other parts of the world. There are many ways to stay in touch.

Telephone

One way is to make long-distance phone calls. When you set up your telephone, make sure that you find a long-distance plan that will meet your needs. Prepaid phone cards are also available at most local convenience stores.  Use the prepaid phone cards to make long distance telephone calls from any of the public telephones.

Letters

Another way to maintain contact is to write letters. A mail carrier will deliver letters to your mail box once a day from Monday to Friday. You can send letters at a local post office or you can drop them in one of the red mailboxes located throughout Timmins. The Canada Post Corporation has more information on mailing letters within Canada, the United States and internationally.

e-Mail

A third way to stay in touch is by e-mail. If you don't have a computer or Internet service, you can use the computers at the Timmins Public Library free of charge.
